LS1 scanmaster works on my 97 LT1

So, I plug my scanmaster for my LS1 into my LT1 and to my surprise it works. Then just to see if it would read a trouble code I unpluged my MAF and the SES of course comes on, I look at the DTC on my scanmaster and it's reading a p0100 code which is a MAF trouble code.

So it appears that the scanmaster for the LS1 works fine with my LT1, has anyone else used a LS1 scanmaster in place of a LT1 scanmaster on their LT1's? What the difference between the two? I just don't see why anyone with a OBDII LT1 wouldn't want to use the LS1 scanmaster for the LT1's if its accurate, and I wonder why I haven't heard of this before.

That's a good find. I wish someone would try it a LT1 Scanmaster with a 93.

The LS1 and 96-97 ODBII LT1 pcms seem to have alot in common. I am currently using EFILive (designed for LSx only) with my 97 LT1. Most all of the enhanced GM pids work perfectly fine.

The main annoyance i've found is that the Knock Retard pid isnt recognized -- does the LS1 scanmaster log knock retard correctly for you?

I wonder if the rpm would be off. Adj. shift lights have different settings and the LS1 has the 4/7 swap. Check that and let us know.

I noticed that the knock retard does not read, it seems that the only info not displayed. As far as rpm, it seems to read that just fine, infact id say its accurate.

Not having the knock info displayed is annoying because before when I used a LT1 scanmaster it was something id always keep my eye on. But having the DTC displayed on the LS1 scanmaster is nice.

Re: LS1 scanmaster works on my 97 LT1

I know this thread is old, but has anyone tried a LT1 scanmaster on an LS1? I recently switched to a 24X LS1 computer in my 96 LT1 and was wondering if my old LT1 scanmaster would work. Its in storage right now so I can't exactly just go out and wire it up to see.

They both speak j1850 vpw so it should work the LT1 scanmaster may request PIDs that aren't supported by the LS1
