Long term fuel trim question...

My car has run poorly for a while now and Ive replaced the entire ignition system (coil, icm, plugs, wires, opti), replaced fuel filter, checked fuel pressure(WOT it was 43 to the redline), replaced the egr solonoid, cleaned maf sensor, thoroughly cleaned all parts of the throttle body and replaced all its gaskets, replaced pcv valve, and thats all I can think of mut they have all been done in the last 2000 miles. That was just a background incase maybe I missed something... anyways once its in closed loop and under light throttle or at idle the long term fuel trim for both banks is around 110 and once I get on it it stays around high 120's or low 130's, I dont know what else would effect how it runs. Before when I had the exhaust off the car like I do now it sound pretty even loud and had a very notible tone to it... now it sounds like hammered ***, like a 60 pickup truck with no noticable tone just hammereing explosions and a missing at idle. I have more to to write but ill type it later but for now let me know what you think...????

Have you checked your O2 sensors for proper operation? Any exhaust leaks (like at the head) before the O2 sensors? I'd replace them too, if they've not been replaced in a while.

Re: Long term fuel trim question...

Are you saying the only place you have 110 BLM's is in the idle cell (16?)? And all other cells are normal (high 120's- low 130s')? Does "get on it" cover all other cells, or just the high load/high rpm cells? Terms like "get on it" and "sounds like hammered ***" are really not clear.

If its primarily a problem it low loads, low rpm, it could be:

-leaking injector(s)
-EGR valve leaking
-faulty MAP sensor (indicating low vacuum)
-faulty TPS sensor (intermittent voltage spikes)
-EEC canister purge stuck open

Re: Long term fuel trim question...

Ide say below 50% load (very rough guess I didnt have a datalogger since my laptop is broken just a scanner and I only tested it below 3k rpms since it was too rough and loud with just open headers) the blm's are that bad and as I get on it further they go back up to around 130ish BUT the car still runs like crap and sounds like crap and when I go WOT, or really any other fairly high load, its not a smooth climb up the rev range its really rough and VERY down on power up until redline... with the exhaust system on it USED to sound very VERY smooth and refined and at some point the tone changed just to a hard rough grumble but it wasnt as noticable with the exhaust on. I thought maybe one of the cats blew out and got a peice stuck somewhere hence the different sound and loss of power... sure enough one of the 2 cats was blown but no blockage. Also when I started it up with open headers and 2 foot extensions the other night it sounds just like a bassy humm with a miss here and there, where as when I first put the longtubes and extensions on about a couple years ago when it was running very well it was louder and crackly almost sounded like it had a mild cam by comparison.
