Thanks for the replies. I've got Tunercats now. What do I need to change to fix my stall converter problem.

I still don't think you are having the "limp home" mode problem because I believe that if you were, You'd be put right into 3rd gear and you wouldn't be able to take it out of third until you shut the car off. BUT if you still think you are, then ....
READ the program that's in your PCM
Call up that file in TunerCat
Click on TABLES
Click on ECM Constant Tables
Scroll down to VSS DIAGNOSTIC ENABLE MIN RPM
Change the value (should be 3000) and set it for a value above what your is set at. (set to 4000?)

Program your PCM with this change and try it out.

I believe that you will probably find that you need to lower your shift points. I did the same thing when I went from 2.73's to 4.10's. It bounced off the limiter (yes, I did change the gear section in the PCM) I lowered the shift points and it worked fine. (You are SURE your fluid level is correct???)

ok... everyone is talking about 2 different things. if your car is hitting the rpm rev limiter, now that you have installed a 3600 stall. than count yourself lucky. most people with obd1 cars have a problem with what is commonly called limp mode where the car skipps second shifts into third, and you have to cut the car off to shift back down into first.

your problem is shift points, your car has to see a certain rpm, and speed at a certain tps. now there are several tables for this, one is for when the car is hot, one for normal operating temp, and one for cold (or startup).

you need to set the rpms where you what the car to shift at. then lower the shift point speeds at (98.5% and 100%) until the car shifts where you what it. you may have to go back and lower the rpm range as well to make it shift exactly on the button.

but you have to think what all is my pcm doing when i go wot from a dead stop. the tps opens to 98.5 to 100%, and the car starts to roll. well is the car going to roll fast enough to meet all the parameters it the table to make the shift before i hit the rev limiter.

work with the shift points...if you cant get it send me your bin file and ill fix it for you. or call me and ill walk you through it vincentbergeron@yahoo.com or 254 747 2633.

trust me i have fixed so many of these its not funny.

Thanks, I'll try changing the shift points. Should mph be lowered to "0"?
