knock sensor ?'s

Does the 95 OBD1 cpu have a default knock setting if it's unplugged/wire broke? I get 6 degrees of retard at light load and it slowly goes away if I stay at the same load no matter what I change in the timing table. I have pulled 8 degrees across the board twice with LT1 edit and still 6 degrees. Now the car is a pooch.

Thanks,

J

Re: knock sensor ?'s

I have heard that it retards the timing a set amount of degrees if there is a DTC for the sensor circuit, but I have not verified that, myself. Have any trouble codes?

Re: knock sensor ?'s

No codes at all. I did a search and couldn't find any direct info for the problem I'm having. I do have all Comp valvetrain; Pro Magnum lifters, pushrods and 7/16 rockers, set the lash cold then hot and the car has 16 inches of vacuum at idle. It has the LT4 KM (nothing changed) and a Dynaspark . The timing was severely off with stock opti thanks to the shaft retaining screws losing thier heads. It is a new KM and I did use pipe tape to seal it and torqued it to 18ft lbs. If the signal wire was shorted to ground, it would throw a code right? The signal wire is running in the same loom as the ABS sensor and starter wires to get it away from the headers.

Yeah, if the wire was shorted to ground, it should cause a DTC. If you want to check that wire, it should have 5v on it with the key on and disconnected from the sensor.
