knock sensor ?

knock sensor ?

i put a lt1 in my 91 camaro. do to the placement of one of my header tubes i can't hook up my knock sensor. will not having my knock sensor hooked up cause the computer to pull timing? thanks brian

The PCM will set a code, and (I believe) switch to more conservative timing without a knock sensor. You need to bypass the circuit if you're not going to use a knock sensor. The OBDI F-body LT1 needs a 3.9Kohm resistor to bypass the KS; the OBDII F-body LT1 needs a 100Kohm resistor.

Why not swap the knock sensor to the other side, if there is more clearance? There are identical holes on both sides of the block, since they are the drain plugs. Without the sensor, the PCM will calculate knock retard from engine operating parameters, and you will see almost constant knock retard, ranging from 3-15deg.
