Knock retard

Is there a way to disable or bypass knock retard in a 93 without tuning etc.?

I remember a long time ago I soldered a resistor to get around some knock retard, but it was a 97... and it was a long time ago.

Simply unplugging it will cause the ECM to pull huge amounts of timing almost all the time, in response to DTC 43.

I figured that would be too good to be true.

what about putting a resistor on the wire in the same value of the resistance of the knock sensor?
