Jet Dynamic Spectrum Tuner for 96-97 LT1: Opinions

I'm looking for some tuning software to tune my 97 Z28 H/C M6. I had been looking at LT1 Edit but I understand that Jet owns the 96-97 LT1 Tunercat software called Jet Dynamic Spectrum Tuner.

http://www.jegs.com/i/JET/561/14005/10002/-1

Any opinions on this software? What else would I need to purchase?

You are going to find a limited choice on the OBD2 LT1 engines. There are two players for laptop software. Jet DST $375.00 (the old TunerCat OBD2) and LT1 Edit $450.00 most users familiar with each product stand by what the like and dislike with each. Jet is not limited to one PCM and can be used on other engines..Lt1 users say it's easier to use. I have a TunerCat background so it would be my choice, personal preference only.. You will need a cable, I suggest USB not serial, and a logging software.

What logging software would you recommend?

Yes, JET DST works great for 96-97 LT1s.

You can use the JET DST cable for datalogging as well, but datalogging packages are quite limited for those engines. I bought MXScan and it is the biggest POS going. If you choose a PID that is not fully supported by the PCM it won't log anything, so you are constantly hunting for the right parameters to log and in some cases (like knock retard) you can't get any logging for it since none of the parameters seem to be supported.

I use my HPTuners hardware/software for the majority of datalogging on 96-97 LT1 motors.

If anyone else has further reviews of other datalogging packages for 96-97 LT1s I would love to hear about them.

Tunercat for OBD2 and autoxray. I wish someone would come up with a VE master or Datamaster for OBD2.
