I have the Jet DST and it works fine for the most part. My biggest complaint is that I got mine early on, so it is only good for 2 VINs. They changed their policy in November though, so now they should be selling the 4 VIN version. I have also used the hardware interface to log data with MXscan. One cool thing about the DST is that it has analog inputs for logging an external sensor, such as a wideband O2 like I'm doing. MXscan has to be purchased separately though.

Are the prices the same then as well? I noticed the Jet software was around 500 bucks. Is the Tuner Cat the same?

I bought mine and sent it back to jet.....if you shop around someone had it for $375. I paid $515 for it from jet

I thought it was very complicated, I also did the tunercats with an obd1.....I didn't like that either. So I went to DFI......

The cool thing about the DST is it will work on alot of different cars if you buy the vin access.
It also had some newer features

you can still buy tuner cat from moates. but you have to buy a roadrunner.
if you don't need it, it would be easy to sell.

How hard is it to understand? Is it user friendly?

None of them are extraordinarily easy to understand. I've seen screen shots of the others only but they appear to be similar in complexity/user friendly. You definitely need to have an understanding of what each table, switch and constant is used for. Fortunately there is a lot of documentation in the forums and on the web in general on this stuff.

EFILIVE and JET both offer downloadable demos. Here's the URL to JET's demo: http://www.jetchip.com/downloads/DSTDieselDemoSetup.exe

That will give you an idea of what its about. Good luck!
