Installing Infinity in-dash navigation into another vechile...

My fathers wife drive a 2001 Infinity QX4 with in-dash navigation.

she plans on trading in pretty soon. My creative juices started flowing.

I asked my father if I replace the dash bezel with whatever comes stock, could I ****** the in-dash nav. telling him a dealer isnt going to give jack for the navigation system. he agreed.

Question is:

Possible to insatll in another vechile relativly easily? -I speaking mearly about wiring it up properly. I have not even looked at what it consists of, im assuming theres just a hiring harness.

thanks!

P.S. Im not even sure What vechile id install it into - probably my jeep (if its still around) but defanatly a late-model something-or-other

Don't bother, not worth it. You'll spend an incredible amount of time getting it out properly since the brain box is most likely in the trunk area and I believe that Infinity has that linked to the ECM for speed/rpm etc.

Then you must consider it will need to go into an import since it is a double din and your Jeep has a din and a half.

Do stores sell In-dash navigation systems?

Ive seen the plug and play ones - They look teriblle just sitting there. I want something that looks factory and clean, no flip up or standalones...

Something I can wire up, make a custom bezel for my dash and look like it came like that, ya know?

If you want a flush mount system, yes...they are in fact made. However, they are double din and will require alot of tweaking to get them to fit...more than just a simple bezel

I know it will take some tweaking im looking forward to that.

In my jeep there is heating vents under the radio - And Ive seen setups using flush mounted nav. and a drivesoft system. Very cool.

Only prob is: Here the hell do I put the radio?? LOL !

All speculation at this point....

For double dins, your best bets are

Pioneer AVIC-D1
Kenwood KNA-DV4100 (you need DDX-7015 for GPS as well)
