I'm going Stand Alone, any suggestions?

I'm almost ready to purchase a Stand-Alone ECU. I'm looking for input from guys who have them. All differant brands. Ones you like/prefer, and why. This would be a very expensive mistake for me to make, so, I'm doing research first. The systems I am considering(currently) are Haltech F6K, Microtech, FAST(If I could get it cheap enough), and maybe a few others that I can't think of right now.

Let me know what you guys think.

BTW, this is not for my F-Body. So, no one ask why I need a ECU for a LT1 that only makes 340hp.

Some of the most potent engines I'm aware of use the MoTeC ECU. I have the MoTeC M48Pro, and it is extremely flexible and easy to program. My system uses the MoTeC IEX 8-channel driver for direct fire ignition on 8 LS1 coils. The M48Pro has been superceded by the M800 and M880, which will accept a larger number of extra inputs and produce more ouput signals, while now using a Windows graphics package, a welcome upgrade.

I know George Baxter used the M48Pro in "the world's quickest stock -style suspension LT1".... 1,125HP, 9.04 @ 155mph in a 3,900# 20th SS convertible, 383 w/ a Vortech SC, and the MoTeC. And I know he has upgraded to the M800-series for his venture deep into the 8's...... .

If their is a "fault" to the MoTeC stuff, it is the high cost. The unit comes with full capabilities to run a 12-cylinder engine in excess of 15K rpm, but you pay for a basic setup, then pay extra for any features you want "turned on", like closed loop wide-band operation, ABS and active suspension outputs, etc.

I thought I heard F1 guys were using MoTeC also, but I could be wrong.

Hey Mudge, It's me Jamie T from the HybridZ forum. I thought you were Dr. Mudge. I may have a deal on a Haltech F6K, at least I think thats what it is called. Motec is WAY out of my price range.

I bought my MoTeC for $1,500 used, and it had been checked out by an authorized MoTeC distributor........ .
