I think my ECM is shot ?
I was doing some tuning last night with tunercat. and on my final tune, about 98% done with the programing being complete but somthing waa different the fans can on and the car was making some hard clicking sounds from under the hood. i turned the car off then turn it back on the car will fire but not start, fans still wideopen on. I have try to reconnect to the ecm with my scan programs and tunercat agin but it will not connect to the ecm. what do u guys think ???? i have tryed the 15 min ecm reset to.
no, you should be able to flash the same ecm/pcm many times and have no problems, you want to make sure you always have good battery voltage, a battery jump box works good,, you want your laptop to have all extras turned off and make sure the settings are set so the laptop will not shut of or hibernate. and always make sure you can read from the ecm before programming,, if you cant do a clean read time after time without problems do not try to program.
always pull the "actuator" fuse in the under hood fuse block, this will keep the fans from running while reading and flashing the pcm, you dont want anything extra pulling voltage
dont use usb to serial cable adapters unless it is your last option,, if your laptop doesnt have a serial port, use a pcmcia adapter(or express card to serial adapter) as this makes a true serial port on your laptop
this is an extra pcm i had for my 94 but i never needed it, i flashed mine many times and never had an issue
