How do I tune my computer??? Please help

Alright guys well I am in the process of putting my car back together and I need to get a tune. I have heard of things called mail in tunes, dyno, ect.. I cant really afford the dyno and there is not really a place near me that offers it. Also I will need something where I can change frequently because I will be adding new upgrades over time and i dont want to have to keep paying to get it re-tuned. I've heard of buying some kind of device that hooks into you cars computer and you can just upload the program onto your stock computer. Is there any truth in that?

Basically guys I need to know how to get my car tuned for the best price with the best results. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again

Geordi

Without knowing a single bit of info about your car - year, engine, etc.... I don't think anyone can help you.

I'm sure I've suggested this before - but why not add a "signature" with basic info about your car - year, model, engine, tranny and major mods. That way every time you post, the info will automatically be added at the bottom of the post, and people can help you without asking for more info.

Maybe you should make it a sticky. I know you've suggested it many times. And maybe make a sticky with the basic OBD1 (EPROM and FLASH) and OBD2 info for anyone new trying to get an idea about where to start with tuning. That would probably help a lot of new people and save a lot of extra posts.

It isn't a problem just in this forum.... it happens in all the forums. I can see a newbie not knowing how to add a signature, etc. But I would think someone who's been here for almost 2 years would have one.

Uh, you still haven't given any info about your vehicle. How is anyone suppose to be able to help you at this point?

Meat Spinn, you may want to check back in after you sobered up.

Since people now know you have a 1995, maybe you can get some help.

Look at what Tunercat offers. A lot of people use it.

Finally.
Since you have a 95, it has an OBDII port but uses an OBDI PCM. You need a cable (vendors can be found) to connect to your PC (hopefully a laptop). You need a tuning program (most of us use Tunercat, as shoebox states). You need a data logging program (most use Datamaster). Once you get into it, VEMaster (freeware) is quite useful. You will also need a wideband O2, although some claim to use the narrowband of the vehicle.
The total cost (minus the laptop) is less than a dyno tune at reputable tuners.
See Geordi, if you supply the requested information, help can be offered.
I admit to being disappointed that it is not a Chevette.

With an attitude like that, I don't see too many people wanting to help you.

I have x amount of time to spend on every post. There's way more people with problems than there is time to help them all. I read the ones that interest me, and if there is enough info given, and if I know the answer, or can help, I do so. But if I see someone who isn't bright enough to tell people what vehicle, engine, etc. he/she is asking about, I figure I've helped by POLITELY suggesting that they add a signature. I've spent my time helping, and now I move on to the next thread that interests me. Why should I give a person that won't follow a basic suggestion more time that someone who uses a little bit of comon sense.

No... I don't think this is the right forum for you, and probably not the right site.
