I got a mail order tune, and have downloaded the program to
transfer the file, but I have a couple of questions. First can I plug in my laptop to a wall outlet, as my battery life is questionable, and then do I donwload the stock file and then upload the new bin file. Just asking before I do the wrong thing. Any tips also.

Yes, plugging your laptop into the wall is a good idea even if the battery is not questionable. Yes, you will definitely want to save your old program before you download a new program.
