When the key is turned on (before starting the engine), it only is supposed to run for 2 seconds. Is that what is happening?

it primes then it will run on just the prime once the pressure is gone the car stalls (i hav e an electric fuel pressure gauge ) is there a relay for the pump ? if so where ? i know there is one for the racetronix kit also does the bcm control the fuel pump ?

Re: fuel pump only runs for a split second

Assuming from your screen name that were talking about a 97 LT1, there's a fuel pump relay under the "dead pedal" for the driver's left foot. There's also a fuel pump "prime" connector that allows you to apply 12V and bypass the relay to test the pump. The PCM sends a signal to the relay to start the pump, and then turns it off if the engine doesn't start. The PCM need to see the "low res" pulse pattern from the Opti, or it shuts down the fuel pump and injectors.

Shoebox has photos of the fuel pump relay, the prime connector and a set of wiring diagrams (for a 95, but marked for the later models) on his website:

Re: fuel pump only runs for a split second

Still sounds like an Opti problem. With no low res pulse from the Opti, the PCM shuts downs the pump and the injectors. Putting 12V to the prime connector to keep the fuel pump running solves the fuel pump problem, but the injectors would still be turned off.
