Fuel injector size question inside please...

Anyone know if theres some kind of formula or know a round about estimate on what size fuel injectors are needed vs. what kind of flywheel HP your running? Just curious. Hope this is the right forum too. Thanks in advance.

i know that the 24lb injectors will hold up to 450hp to the flywheel, so if you have those you should be good to go.

24lb injectors would not be adequate for 450hp unless they were run at very elevated fuel pressure.

thats just what they support, you have to have the right stuff to get the hp but the will hold it.

A 24# injector, stock or SVO will flow about 25#/HR at stock (3bar/43.5psi) pressure. If you do the math.....

(25 #/HR) X (8 injectors) / (0.45 #/HR/HP BSFC) = 444flywheelHP

And that's at 100% duty cycle. Yes.... a well tuned NA motor can probably see a 0.42 #/HR/HP BSFC, and that would change the HP capability at 100% DC to 476flywheelHP..... but you would be foolish to run the injectors that hard. If you use the general guideline of 80% max DC, you will be limited to 380flywheelHP.
