Flash a new OBD2 PCM?

Can I flash a new obd2 LT1 PCM with no program? I have LT1_edit version 2.2, and, a flash file that works great for my app. Or, will something bad happen if I flash? Thanx. B.

It won't do it. First, the PCM has to start up, which I am not sure how a blank PCM could manage. Second, LT1Edit reads the hardcoded VIN from the PCM. If it does not match, you lose.
You just can't get there from here. That was the final straw that forced me to abandon LT1Edit.

By "no program", do you mean a PCM that you picked up at an auto parts store? They're usually loaded with 'something' in them that'll get them talking, but you can't predict what they'll be loaded with.

As was mentioned, if your cable isn't VIN licensed for the PCM, it won't program unless you have the tuner version of LT1Edit.

I've seen some auto parts store PCMs have nothing entered for their VIN (or the VIN full of ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ). That didn't impact the ability to upload a program to it (again, assuming you have a 'tuner' version). But for a single VIN version, sorry... not gonna happen.

Re_maned PCM from gmpartsdirect.com. Assumed nothing is on it. After your input, I have purchased PCM repair from madtuner.com (40 dollar), and will furnish him the LT1 file. I will try that since LT1_edit wants 100+ dollars for another license (I only have a single user purchase). I too am quite limited by LT1_edit sales rules as a single user. I have quite alot of mods, so, I must develop my own application program. B.
