Air Bag Light

I just removed the stock steering wheel and installed an aftermarket wheel in my 95' Z. The Air Bag light stays on. Is there a resistor I can install at the end of the plug under the dash to fool the system?

Thanks, Charles

Take the bulb out. Don't play around with the air bag electronics.

Thanks Guys. I was wondering about the resistor values. I'd like to keep the passenger's side air bag funcional and don't think it will work if the system sees a fault.

Injuneer: Pulling the bulb crossed my mind. I had already started pulling the instument cluster when it hit me that the passenger side wouldn't work if it was faulted.

I thought about Ohm'ing out the air bag, but if you know how a multimeter works, IT'S A BAD IDEA! To check resistance, the meter sends voltage through the circut and registers the voltage drop to calculate resistance. I thought there might be a chance it could set off the charge.

This is also the only way the PCM can determine if there's anything connected or not. Airbags probably need a lil bit more than a fraction of a mA to fire.

Yep

I wasn't really sure how much it took to set it off and didn't want to take the chance.

YES! 3ohm resistor installed and works perfect.
