FAST Programming
I am just getting into programming my car and I am not really familiar with what is considered safe when it comes to A/F ratios. I know a little when it comes to tuning using O2 voltage and need some help with the A/F tuning.
My car is a 94Z with a T-76 turbo if this helps any. Most of the time I will run pump gas , but may put in a little race gas in at the track for safety sake.
If anyone has any suggestions, I will appreciate them.
Thanks,
James

James, i guess i am a little confused on what exactly your asking.
Are you looking for dyno tuning? Or just someone to help you tune? Or wanting to learn how to yourself?
Are you using the FAST setup?

Kevin,
I am using the FAST set-up and I do want to learn how to tune the car myself. I am new to all of this and looking for some help on getting started. I just don't want to get in there and mess anything up, which I think would be easy to do on a forced induction application.
Thanks,
James

Wanting to tune the car yourself is understandable. I would suggest either spending some time with either a distributor or someone running the system themselves. Just a "crash" course would help tremendously! Then after you are comfortable with some of the parameters you could start fine tuning yourself.
Here is a link to some of FAST distributors, try to find one close to you and maybe get in touch with one.

Just curious.
Those guys running a FAST.
Did you have overheating problems? It appears that my FAST only controls one fan, that the second fan does not come on. i would have THOUGHT that the stock PCM would perhaps turn the second fan on but maybe it does not get a signal.
I was thinking of just wiring the second fan into the first fan anf have the FAST turn BOTH fans on at the same time.
Any thoughts or experience.
BUT, things are improving on the tune side.

Shaun, Just checking to make sure your running your fan from a relay? Alot of people try running the fan directly from FAST ECU, and it may work for a while.....but it will bite you sooner or later.
correct
FAST ECU------------>Relay------------>Fan
incorrect
FAST ECU--------------------------------->Fan
I want to say you should be able to parallel 2 relays together to run 2 fans from one single output. I will try to verify this tomm and post my findings.

Hi Kevin.
I just spliced the FAST into the stock harness and thus I ASSUME that the FAST goes through a relay.
BUT, My "FAN 2" relay is buzzing when it is evidently suppose to be 'on'. ie, when the car is cold the relay is fine, but after the car has warmed up OR if I turn the AC on, the relay buzzes and the fan does NOT come on.
Thanks as always Kevin, I will be checking the boards,

I spoke with Craig to see what his input is on this. He has not had any involement with a setup like this before, but he does know what you are trying to do.
His suggestion was to take the LT1 PCM out of the circuit period.
Let the FAST ECU control both fans.
Basically you would take the FAN output from FAST ECU to a heavy duty relay (75 Amp) then on output of relay you would parallel both fans. When the FAST ECU commands the fans on both fans will turn on. With this setup both fans will be treated as one.
FAST ECU--------->Relay------------->Fan1/Fan2
In order for this setup to work the relay will have to be heavy duty at least 75 Amps, If not you will get some chattering/buzzing
from the relay. Maybe this will help some?

What a dumbass.
After spending hours testing and finally wiring in a manual switch, I found that I had set the temps in the fan section of the program wrong.
D'oh.
I had them coming ON at 160'ish and OFF at 180'ish and of course the numbers should have been the opposite.

so after you realized that the FAST fan control temps were off did you try to see if they would work the way you had it before? with both the factory wires run to the FAST control? i started to tune my car tonite and it overheated and blew coolant everywhere(air pocket in block) and the fans never came on. i had both factory wires, the dark blue and the dark green, wired to the FAST control. so i cut the dark blue in hopes that the FAST would be able to run just one relay, no luck at the time. so after i call it a night and push the car up into the garage i wanted to check a few things on the program so i turned the key to the run position and voth fans kicked on. so i got to playing with on off setting for the fans in realation to what temp the motor was at, it worked. weirdest thing, so by having the FAST fan control hooked to just the factory dark green fan control wire i can run both fans when i want too.
