dyno tune or have garage scan car?

my profile under this mesage shows what i have done to the car. anyhow i have the delteq system on the car. so it takes a second or two to crank over. the car is running rich even after madz28 tuning it and messing with the injector pulse or whatever. idle in park is good, could be smoother feeling. anyhow i don't want to drive the car until i get something looked at on it. next saturday i plan to get it dyno tuned. now should i have them tune it and try to fix any issues with the car? no service engine lights are on.. should i drop it off at a garage and have them scan the computer and look over the car? i added cheap plugs to the car for now and new o2 sensors and don't want to kill the o2 sensors buy driving it.. my ngk plugs were black and wet with gas just from a 12mile give or take drive to work and back.

Re: dyno tune or have garage scan car?

if no service soon engine lights are on then a scanner would tell the guy at the shop nothing. right?? money is tight so i would hate to spend the money to have a garage look at it and find nothing wrong. i know the guy that will look at it he adjusted my 1.6 rockers at my house. i can trust him and he seems to know alot.

I'd say dyno tune it. Ask the shop first if they seen anything wrong during the dyno tune if they will advise you whats going on and wrong. I would guess they have a scanner too, so they can monitor your sensors. I'm not an expert, but if your car is running rich then your BLM's should be below 128. There is no way to find out except have it scanned that I know of.

Then you are not running rich. 128 is exactly what you want. Do you have a punched out cat or deleted it? If so, your car will smell rich no matter what you do.

no cat... trust me bro its running rich cause the plugs are wet with gas whenever i drive it.. could be something throwing the scanner off from a true reading.

What kind of scan? If it is from a laptop put it in csv. and have everyone check it out. Is it at 128 in all fuel cells?

Re: dyno tune or have garage scan car?

If the plugs are sopping wet, it would be hard to believe that the BLMs are around 128 at all times.

Re: dyno tune or have garage scan car?

Before I did my rebuild, my #8 plug was fuel wet. It turned out to be a broken valve spring. It was causing sometimes to run on 4 cylinders. Why, I don't know. Pull your valve covers and take a look for anything abnormal. Not trying to be insulting, but what plugs are you running?

Re: dyno tune or have garage scan car?

its a scanner i bought from summit racing. well it must not be that good then since its showing 128blm's abd plugs are wet. valve springs are brand and nothing is broke. ngk tr6 plugs is what i use. fuel injectors have brand new gaskets on them so they aren't leaking. no matter what that scanner says the fact the plugs being wet and black in a short.. amount of time means its running rich.

Re: dyno tune or have garage scan car?

When you are reading the 128 BLMs, are you in closed loop?

Re: dyno tune or have garage scan car?

the car is in park and its just idling. o2 were off the wall like 400 something so also had to change them out, very black also.. fuel intergrators are at 128 also... open loop is what the car is at i guess you would say when its at idle.

You need to run the test in closed loop. Make sure the car has been fully warmed up. Drive the car around at all different speeds and RPM's while scanning. Your O2 sensors should be jumping around. Check out injuneer's web
