Dyno Run: How much Knock Retard will effect performance???

Results: 320rwHP/331rwTQ
LT1/A4: Hotcam/CAI/Exhaust/Longtubes

While getting my car dyno'd I logged both runs.

Now each run at one point had knock retard of 0.7, so my spark advance fell from 42 to 37 degress when this happened.

I thought generally when this happens it will effect the engines power dramaticlly, but didn't see any spikes on the dyno graph.

So I was wondering if I'm losing any potential HP due to the spark retard?

And if this is actual knock, should I fix this by decreasing advance a few degrees in the areas needed(RPM 4200/MAP 100)?

Thanks.

first if i was you i would try and use 100 octaine and see if the knock is still there. If if is then it is false knock. I ran that same setup for a while and 42 is a little high for 4200 and 100 kpa. try 40. That cam will make good increases in power till 6300 rpm and maybe higher but i would not go over 6300.

Thanks for the reply. I only dynoed to 5700, I wonder how much more power I could've made...

Next time, I will go and use race fuel... then timing.
