DTC code 41
DTC code 41
The car is giving me a
41 Ignition Control (IC) circuit (open circuit)
and is also not starting. I have been all over this forum trying to find someone with a similar problem. I have fuel and spark at several plugs. I have unplugged the ICM and tested the black to the white wire while cranking and showed 2 v ac. There is 12 vdc at terminals A and D on the ICM with key on.
All wires are seated in plugs on the opti connection, ICM and coil. I tested the white to black wire resistance and showed about 3 k ohms, but i did this test with the PCM plugged in. I tested the injector plugs with a 12v test light (all i had) and the light never lit while attached across the terminals even with the key in the on position. I also cranked the motor and the light never lit. I grounded the claw, and one of the terminals on the injector plug lit the light.
I did check all the fuses and I keep reading about a diagnostic tree for help on this issue but i have not actually found it. I was just wondering if there were any other definative tests i could run to narrow down my issue. Thanks for any help.

Update on DTC 41
In case anyone reads this later...i was reading through the haynes repair manual and the first ignition diagnostic step it tells you to perform is the "pull coil wire off the opti and ground"
Well, for some reason I did this last and when i pulled the coil wire off, i noticed it had been arcing right through the side of the boot to the water pump. I rotated the boot around on the opti, and VROOOM!
This explains why it would idle like crap AFTER it warmed up and the weird clicking sound coming from what i thought was the thermostat. I have taylor 8mm wires and i wouldn't have thought that would happen. Oh, well the car runs.
