DTC 32 after wot

Just curious as to why after getting into the throttle a couple times at wot from 1st to third, about a few miles down the road of normal cruise speeds of 55 mph, I get a ses light. It goes out another couple miles down the road.

So I get home and scan it to find its an egr failure code 32. What exactly could cause this to happen? Its the first time its ever happened.

The car ran fine when the code popped up. It just surprised me and made me curious.

Re: DTC 32 after wot

IMO the EGR diagnostic test on the OBD1 is a hit and miss. 50% of the time you can disable EGR and the DTC never detects it, and visa versa. The test is looking for a change in MAP under specfic conditions. On a M6 speed between 25-65, throttle between 8%-20% and in 3rd gear. The PCM activates EGR and expects MAP to drop 1 Kpa for 2.5 seconds. If not DTC 32 is set. So it could be defective EGR system or sometimes a fluke if you have mods that effect MAP. Could be a gunked up EGR valve, if so it will show during emission testing as high No readings during the 25 mph dyno test. EGR not working will not effect performance, just emissions.
