Dtc 18 ??

How do I get rid of the DTC 18 that has been coming up on my car? What are the symptoms of this code, I have read that it is a code for the injectors, but I am not sure what to do to cure this problem.

Thanks.

One or more of the injector circuits is faulty.... that's as much detail as you can extract from the code. The PCM is providing the ground to fire the injector, and the amperage/voltage its seeing is not within the acceptable range. Could be a bad injector, loose harness connector, faulty wire, etc.

Do you have any sort of uneveness in the idle? If so, pull one injector connector at a time off. It the uneveness stays the same, you've found the injector causing the problem. If it get worse, you've disconnected a healthy injector.

After I installed my new opti the idle problem isn't very noticable. My mechanic was showing me that when any of the injectors were pulled the problem only became worse, but it didn't change at all on #3. That one could be the problem. Also he was using a tool that flashed when the injector was firing and when he plugged the harness back up the computer wouldn't start firing again until we raised the RPM's up to about 3000-4000. Except on the #3 injector it never flashed.

Could these possibly be symptoms of the DTC 18?

If #3 does not flash the 'noid light, and pulling the connector off #3 does not cause the problem to get worse, #3 is FUBAR. Either the injector is faulty or the connector is not supplying +12V to the pink wire, or no ground to the "other" wire.

You could swap #3 with another injector. If the problem follows the injector, its an injector problem. If the problem stays on #3, its a wiring problem.
