Datamaster Problem

Ok, after the other post problems today, I tried to run datamaster on the car. Once I pressed start to try to log, I would get the message "No PCM sync....recycling....".

Is this somewhat tell tale of a fried PCM? Would a fried PCM let the car run though?

Man, I'm having the same exact problem as you. When I talked to TTS they told me to read the instructions again. I did everything it said to do. When I check the com port it says the test passed and that the PCM was detected, then I try to log data and it says NO PCM SYNC recyling. I have no idea what to do. I checked the cable using Freescan so I know it works. Good luck, let me know if you figure it out. Rob

Do you guys have anything else on that data line? Like a scanmaster or something else? Cause Datamaster (for what ever reason!!! ) won't work if there is...

Freescan however, DOES work with a scanmaster still plugged in and turned on...

I feel naked with my scanmaster lite up Even if I am logging... hehe

I was actually out logging tonight, for the first time in 6-7 months, and tried the new version of Datamaster... I played with the sync options, and tested the comm port... Shut it down to program with Tuner cat....

When I was done, I fire the car up, turn on Datamaster and notice that my trial runs have dropped... I didn't even record!! hehe oh well...

Honsetly, freescan is just as good (aside from the graphs which are nice in Datamaster) and its totally free, and open source at that!

Needless to say, i use freescan more then datamaster

Well, I think my problem was due to the fact that the custom chip I have is believed to be fried, and it had everything messed up. I have since gone back to the stock style aftermarket chip I have, and everything works again. I'll give it another shot to log again tonight and let ya know if that was for sure my problem.

More then likely, if Datamaster doesn't work, and you have nothing else on the line, Freescan shouldn't work either...

but I'd suggest giving that a try as well... no harm really! And at least you can completly rule out the chance thats its just Datamaster thats not working for you.

Freescan Download

Already have Freescan, and it wasn't working either. Thanks, though, that was a good idea.

I'm quite positive that it was the bad chip causing all the errors.

Hey Fastbird, did you figure anything out? Which version are you running? Also are you using a USB adapter or does your computer have a serial port?

Fastbird I got it figured out. You can see my post under TTS Datamaster problems. I explained how I got it to work. If you don't inderstand what I did you can call me at 808-372-1655. I'll try to help you out. Keep in mind I'm in Hawaii. It's 5 pm here, I'm not sure what time it is where your at. Good luck, Rob.
