considering buying Autotap

http://www.autotap.com/product_famil...&TrailType=Top
This is new stuff to me, so just want to make sure I would be purchasing the correct stuff.
The first is ATU, which is the USB port. Does that mean the cord going into my laptop?
2nd do I need the enhanced GM parameters for the xtra $99?

Is that all I need, or am I missing anything?

I have been using Autotap for a couple years now, I also have the USB version. I don't have to many complaints. For sure get the enhanced parameters.

Red on Red WS6 you say you dont have many complaints about AutoTap and I am also considering buying it. If you dont mind what are your complaints?

The first year I had it I was getting a bunch of error codes and had to keep emailing them about it. Since their last couple updates I don't really have many issues with errors. The only downside of it, is every different car I do data logging on I have to make a new configuration file after it scans perimeters. Not really that big of a deal I just do not like the default config.

Over all I think it is a great buy and is a wonderful tool.

My only complaint is that it shows your fuel trims in %'s and NOONE on the 'net uses percentages.

I thought it was kind of weired myself since everyone is always referring to 128. But it really is not that big of a deal for me now. It has been asked if they can make an option to view either or & I can't remember the reason they can't or wont do it though as it was a couple years ago.

This the statement is directly off my Autotap for LTFT%
Scan Tool Range -23% to 16%. Long Term Fuel Trim is derived from the Short Term Fuel Trim value and represents a long-term correction of fuel delivery. A value of 0% indicates that fuel delivery requires no compensation to maintain the PCM commanded air/fuel ratio. A negative value significantly below 0% indicates that the fuel system is rich and fuel delivery is being reduced (decreased injector pulse width). A positive value significantly greater than 0% indicates that a lean condition exists and the PCM is compensating by adding fuel (increased injector pulse width). Because Long Term Fuel Trim tends to follow Short Term Fuel Trim; a value in the negative range due to canister purge at idle should not be considered unusual. The PCM's maximum authority to control long term fuel trim allows a range between -23% and +16%. Fuel trim values at or near maximum authority may indicate an excessively rich or lean system.

Just on a side note, I was playing with my tuner's Mac Mentor professional scanner this weekend (a $3000+ tool), and it gives fuel trim values in percentages.

The idea that "no one" uses % is bogus. Some very powerful, very expensive tools actually consider that a FEATURE. (and yes, it makes more sense than reading a count IMO).

Just a thought.
