I am concidering buying an 04 GTO and as I am moving into an apartment I will not be able to do any mechanical modifications I will try to do all the computer mods I can. With my thrdgen you have to take the prom out eraseit and resolder it in.

I saw a few people at the camarofest that had laptops controlling their cars. So is it as easy as plugging your laptop in and changing spark and fuel curves with a few clicks?

 

You have to get the appropriate software and hardware to do it. But yes it can be done. Check out:

Of the two I mentioned Hptuners is the better deal because they don't VIN lock the software to just your car. LS1 edit which is made by the Carputing bunch locks the software to your car only.

 

wow $500+ for them huh. A little more than I expected. What sort of gains can you reasonably expect from them?

 

Wait for Tuner Cat to release his OBD2 software. It won't be too much longer for them. And the price is $390 which includes all the software and necessary hardware.
