codes wont go away

codes wont go away

guys cant get rid of 2 codes.18,43 come up as soon as the ar starts.there esc and crank sensor shorts.could this be a wire or the esc gone bad.thanks

I don't see a code 18 in my Haynes manual. Perhaps it's 16? If so, that indicates a low resolution pulse and that probably means the optispark is bad. It could also be other things associated in the spark such as, wires, plugs, coil and ESC module. You will need to do some troubleshooting with a multimeter and a manual to find the source. The code 43 refers to the knock sensor circuit. The knock sensor(s) in the block are probably bad.

Get a new manual.... or use Shoebox's list or my ScanMaster writeup ......

DTC-18 = Injector circuits. You have a bad injector, bad wire to an injector or bad harness connector on one of them.

DTC-43 = knock sensor circuit, as noted in the post above. Check for +5V from the PCM, then check the sensor for 4,500 ohm resistance measured from the pin connector to the block.

Codes won't "go away" unless you fix the problems.
