Code help please
Code help please
I'm throwing codes that I can't figure out why.
I'm getting a 102,171 and 174 and it's idling like crap. I've changed the MAF to a SLP high flow to go with my cold air and I've replaced the O2 sensers after the cats. The MAF is on right and the O2 sensers fixed some of the codes I was getting, but these codes keep coming back.
Can anyone help me with this.

Re: Code help please
I'm going to have to guess which year car you have, to pick the correct code list. Why not add a "signature" so people can help you without guessing?
P0102 = Mass Air Sensor Circuit Low Frequency
The MAF sensor output is irrational, with a frequency below 1,000 Hz. That would correspond to a mass air flow of less than 2 grams/second, which is impossible (most cars use about 6 gps at idle). You either have a huge air leak between the MAF sensor and the throttle body, or your MAF sensor is faulty. Have you tried reinstalling the stocker?
P0171 = Bank 1 Fuel Trim System Lean. Odd, because this can not set if there is an MAF code. The code sets when the weighted average of the long term fuel corrections exceeds +21.9%. The fact that the MAF sensor is reading irrationally low could actually cause that condition.
P0174 = Bank 2 Fuel Trim System Lean. Ditto on what is posted for P0171.
In general, aftermarket MAF sensors are way more problems than they are worth, with no real potential for performance improvement.

Re: Code help please
Sorry about that. It's a 98 z28 LS1. And it looks like the previous owner put on a LS1/LS6 intake. I don't have the old MAF anymore becouse it was dead,it was throwing codes left and right. I replaced it with a SLP MAF becouse it's calibrated for the cold air that I have on the car.
So,are you telling me that the MAF that I got is bad and I wasted my money?
It's only money,right.
