Question Code 44???

I am getting a code 44 ( Bank 1 O2 Lean) It has a new o2 in it so does it mean that its a burnt wire in the harness somewhere??

Also which wire would it be the low or the high input wire?

Thanks,
Chad

Doesn't necessarily mean there is anything wrong with the O2 sensor or the wires. Might be, but there can be other causes. The code means the left bank long term fuel corrections (BLM's) have maxed out, and the sensor still believes the left bank is running lean. Could be a "true" lean.... a vacuum leak on the left bank, for example, split air flow or reversion at idle due to a mod like an aftermarket cam or throttle body. Could be a "false" lean... exhaust leak on the left side, before the O2 sensor, misfires on left side.

Or, it might be something on the left side that is affecting the O2 sensor.... bad wire as you have assumed, sensor wires run too close to plug wires, bad ground, etc. Possible that you have extensions with a bad connection? Have you relocated the sensor so far from the engine it doesn't get hot enough?

The purple/white harness wire (purple sensor side wire) is the "high" signal wire. The tan/white harness wire (tan wire on sensor side) is the "low" signal wire, which is essentially a ground.

Do you have access to a scanner that would show which load/rpm cells have the "bad" BLM's?

Thanks alot for the great explanation! I have a scanmaster and my blm are only split at idle in any other cell they are only off by 2-4. I am trying a few things today and if they fail then I am going to pull the header and see if there is a crack in it about the o2.

Thanks again.
