cc306 prob

I am at the end of the swap...everything in the car...cars running. Ran into one problem...the car is running really really rich. So rich the exhaust hurts your eyes. Any reasons for this? Any info at all would help...thanks.

You definately need programming! I myself am having the exact same problems with my newly installed motor w\306cc. I have programmed mine about 8 times now and it has made almost no difference. However I am having a hard time getting the header gaskets to seal up properly and you can smell exhaust under the hood as soon as you start the car, the leak must be small as I can't hear the usual ticking sound.

I wonder if its possible at all to program a 306cc to work in closed loop mode, wouldn't the overlap in the cam send fresh O2 past the sensors all the time thus triggering a lean condition that the PCM will never be able to correct.

My car is currently getting around 10mpg and every time I drive it I smell like raw fuel for 30min afterwards.

In my experience, if the exhaust is burning your eyes it isn't running rich its running lean.
