Well yea i just figured i would get rid of the crappy scanner and just get freescan and the cable for the car. Its not showing a check engine light now.. so no real emergency. That scanner is a entry level reader and it shows!

My question is what type of terminal do you put on the end of the wire that goes into the connector on the car? Its not visible in the photo
It was something I just had laying around that would fit.

Wow that is just not fair. I confirmed with AX that my software: 3.03 K 1.20 was the latest version of their software. Im thinking there might be a problem with my connector, or my reader is trash.

What software version are you using? Can we verify you are using an AutoXray EZ Read 2000 ??

Did you just stick the exposed wire end into the connector on the car? what kind of terminal did you put on that end?

No, the wires were from something else that had a pin terminal already on them (from what, I don't know). If you soldered part of a fat paper clip (that would fit the DLC)on the end of the wire, it would probably work fine.

Thanks. But if LT4 swears he can scan his car with the same scanner and the blue cable then i must be an artard.

LT4: What is your 8th vin number/letter?

Mine is P which seems to not be what others have. Darn it!

...or maybe you have a bad cable...
That's why I suggested you try to adapt the other one. I have an older Autoxray that is essentially like yours (does I and II) and it works fine with the adapted cable. I never bought a "blue" cable.

Any f-body LT1 is going to have P in the 8th digit of the VIN. P = LT1

Oh i see. I thought P was generic to some year or something. I think i'll have them send me out a new one. In the mean time i'll try and create the setup shoebox has on his website.

Try adapting your 12 pin OBD-I cable like this and see if it works.
Hi shoebox,

I try using the OBD I connector with the setup on your website and i get the same condition. The scanner says that the scan runs complete, but no codes are captured. Im starting to think the problem is not the cable, nor the diagnostic port. I think there is a problem with my scanner itself and the GM protocol.
