Can't find something on tunercat...
I'm I stupid because I can't find where to change the Fan Temp On settings ??
I've read some how to's on tunercat and I've looked for
Fan thresholds:
These are the engine coolant temperatures that the ECM must see in order to kick the fans on. For the stock 180* thermostat the fan turn on points are 226 for the low speed and 235 for the high speed. A good starting point for either the stock or an aftermarket 160* thermostat is to set the low speed fan to come on 20* after the thermostat has opened, and the high speed to come on 6-8* after the low speed. It is best to experiment and see what you‘re car likes best. Use the Fan 1 On Threshold (Low MPH) and the Fan 2 On Threshold (Low MPH) for your turn on temperatures.
The Fan Threshold High Speed (MPH) allows you to give the computer a mph value to distinguish between the high and low speed fan turn on points. This gets pretty interesting.
For example, you drive a lot in stop and go traffic and are consistently driving at 35mph and under. You can set your high speed threshold to 35mph and then at every speed under that the low mph fan turn on temps are active, and at any speed higher than that the high mph fan turn on temps are active. That way you can kick the fans on earlier at lower speeds to make up for the lack of airflow coming across the radiator while you‘re sitting in traffic. Then once your at a speed that allows the radiator to see more airflow the high speed turn on temps take control.

Well when you go under "Tables" from TunerCat you would think that it would be under "ECM Constants" when in fact it's not. The sticky above in this forum suggest or implies that it is. Well in mine it is not.
You see three columns, its in the middle column in the middle row. "Fan Enable Coolant Temp vs Speed"
The values are in C not F
So you can use google to convert them from 180F (20F degrees above 160F thermostat) and 185F to C. Read that is the advised temp setting.

Hi Rob,
finally made that small donation I promised....and of course have another question.....again tried reviewing forums and sticky's but couldn't quite get the answer I need. By the way the window regulartor turned out to be an aftermarket chinese assembly that the previous owner had installed. It looked brand new. The regulator spring fulcrum pin was swaged into teh regulator arm and worked loose, finally popping out, hence the pile of parts in the bottom of the door. I put a spare GM regulator and motor assy I had in and the window flies up and down now.
so, my next question is this. Inow have both a '95 and a '96. As I understand it the two years require different cables, software and programming, is that correct? I bought a cable from Andrew at AKM and a program from Mad Dog for the '95. Because the '95 has now undergone serious mods, it probably needs a new program as well (although it runs really well). My question is, is there anyway I can use the same cable and software to do my own programming on both cars, or should I continue to buy programs from Mad Dog (or whomever does that these days)

95 is OBD-I, 96 is OBD-II. Requires different scanning software and different tuning software. Both use 16-pin ALDL connectors, but the pinout is different between the 95 and 96.
