cant connect to read code

Well my car has fun power, starts up , idles fine for about 1 minute and shuts off fine but if I idle for more than the length of a red light, it throws a check engine light and dies. I die at almost every red light now with SUCKS. So I went to 2 different autozones today to get the code checked and both times there scanner said error something can't read code or connect. I have checked all the fuses, there device is getting power so that plug has power. Any suggestions?

Most auto supply places will only scan OBD-II cars. Your 1995 has a connector that is the same as used with OBD-II, but the computer is OBD-I. Therefore, these places often tell you that your computer has a problem (when it is actually them not using the right scanner).

You will need an OBD-I scanner with the correct adapter cable or you can adapt a 12 pin cable like this.

they did ask what year it was and said that it needed to be 96+ but the connector looked the same. I have the cable myself and I'll setup my computer in the garage tonight to see what the sensors are doing. Thanks for that bit of information.
