can tune PCM to pass emissions on 383??

This is just a question I have.

Lets say I get a 383 crate motor, big cam, no way it will pass emissions. I get o2 sims and program the PCM to throw no codes and tell the OBDII scanner at the inspection station all is well.

Now, if I pull up to the inspection station with a opbviously loping car, will this be a problem(eg they will run smog) or they can't make me do that because I'm obdiII?? bottom line, if they suspect I'm up to "no good" can they smog me?

Thanks
Brian

As long as your programming results in passed readiness monitors than you should pass.

You could fail a visual inspection, but in my experience if an obd2 car is programmed correctly it will pass.

States mandate their own testing requirements. In Virginia ,were I am , your car must pass all monitor tests and sequences. You also have to pass a visual inspection as well...... Plain english, If it came with it from the factory you better have it on the car. No lights on and monitors complete and passing. Hope that helps. Best thing to do is go to the testing station and ask what the requirements are. I am a tech, but also a car guy, if it worded so you can get around it I would let you. Good Luck
