Cam LT1 PCM sense boost?

I know there is a MAP sensor on the the engine but does the PCM actually read boost, or is it basically for vacuum? I have an LT1 edit program and nowhere do I see any tables for the MAP sensor. Can someone help me out?

As the mapping is set up in the software, no. Code would need disassembly, and the tables, as relating to kpa, would need remapping/hex editing.

You can use a two or three bar MAP sensor and scale the timing tables and other MAP related variables proportionally to make it work. You will loose resolution however. It has been done. Search the archives of the LT1 edit forum. You will find more info in there.

A ? was asked, and I answered correctly. Yes, what you have stated, has been exercised. However, that is not fixing the problem, of the pcm code not recognizing/accommodating boost. It is only masking the problem, unfortunately.

There is a guy that did the dissasembly and the PCM senses boost correctly.. it uses a 0-190kpa timing table and the such...

On the other hand...

If we used a 2 bar map sensor and we "tuned" around it...

Can we have more than 100 on the VE Table???? or it would be the best idea to run in SD and then scale EVERYTHING by half... VE table by half and injector constant by half.. that way.. 100 in the ve table would mean actual 200%.

You would have fueling for "part throttle" boost and the WOT would be done on the enrichment part...

possible?

Don't forget that the PCM gets its baro reference upon key on when the PCM first powers up. When you replace the 1 bar map with a 2 bar map this function is going to be inoperative and will set a DTC.

Yes the DTC can be disabled with TC or possibly LT1 edit but that doesn't make it correct because the PCM still will not get its baro reference.....

I have AOL instant messenger, my screen name is: twong29770
