Caddy PCM Swap
Caddy PCM Swap
I have a PCM out of an OBDI Caddy that was an engine donor.
Question is will that PCM work in a 96 F Body (OBDI) conversion that has a failing PCM?
Also, the failing PCM has a tune. Can I download the current settings from the failin PCM and flash the Caddy PCM? I have the AKM cable and software.
Car in question is 96 Z28, A4, OBDI Conversion, 160 tstat, CAI.
Thanks!

Turbo Z,
Service #'s match. The second set of numbers on the lower, non attached part of the tag do not match.
Please excuse my ignorance as this PCM tuning is new to me. The failing PCM was converted from OBDII to OBDI. Can I use the OBDI PCM as a direct replacement or do I have to go through the conversion from II to I yet again?
Re: Caddy PCM Swap
You cant convert a PCM from OBD2 to OBD1 or OBD1 to OBD2. What you can be done however is modifying an OBD1 PCM to work with the OBD2 knock sensor since its the only real compatibility issue... dunno why this is done when you could just replace the knock sensor but some people offer this service.
If tahts what you are referring to as the conversion then youll just need to pick up a 94-95 knock sensor... the sensor in the pass side of the block.. not the knock module in the PCM.
