big block fi system

I am going to be putting a big block into a fbody. Now here is the question? Can you use the lt1 or ls1 fi system or would it be best to buy a system aftermarket. Also I would need a system that could be programmed by me or someone else w/a lap top.
thanks for the help. getting my ducks in a row

You would be better off with something like FAST offers. Reason being is the LT1 computer needs the signals produced by the optispark in order to actually function and you cannot change things such as firing order... if needed. Not sure about the LS1s but I do know GM still makes a big block and I believe uses the same sensors found in the LS1 motor so if you wanted you could try to use that particular block... probably really expensive if its even possible.

One could put the cam position optical part of the opti into a GM distributor, then put an LTCC coil on plug system on. Then run an ODB1 PCM. Probably would not make a bad package since you'll likely be spinning below 6800 rpm. However It might cost as much till your done as a DFI or other. There's a guy on 3rd gen.org thats going to try to run his TPI with a LT1 PCM. I'll check on his progress. Is the firing order the same on a BBC as it is on a SBC? I'm showing my ignorance here.
