Anyone using megasquirt on an LT1?
I dont see why it wouldnt. You can use megasquirt on a ton of other engines, not just LT1's that have opti's. You're gonna probably have to go batch fire without the sensor there though and use another harness like a TPI harness. Obstacle there would be plugging the opti, and GMPP sells a plug for it for the LT1 carb conversion.
The opti really isnt that bad of a system. It has 3 problems; 1, the spark going through it constantly all the time doesnt help the sensor inside, 2, you cant easily change the cap and rotor because of the location, and 3, it's right behind and under the water pump.
So I just got a delteq and tapped my water pump weep hole for a fitting that I connected a hose to and ran off to the side of the engine in case it went... no problems with opti's anymore! Gotta outthink those tie wearing fruits who like making cars break down at regular intervals to make money

You can run the LT1 with TPI electronics. Well you could in my case because the intake allowed for a distributor. Question is why would you want to... it's older stuff, not as efficient. TPI MAF's are also restrictive and expensive. I did, because I still had my TPI harness in the car when I dropped in the LT1. Not anymore...
I see your point. Are these NEW opti's? You might want to check the bottom of your water pump for the weep hole, see if there's any trails leading off of it to indicate it's leaking. Or maybe a squealing belt.
Or you could ditch EFI altogether and go carbed...
