?? about Datamaster
?? about Datamaster
I ran datamaster a couple times today for the first time and have some ?? about it.
1) It measured 0 spark retard the entire time (went to .4 like once)
2) The # of knocks started at like 1500 and didn't change during the run
3) Spark advance did get as high as 44 which I know is good (it was around 4500 rpms)
4) MAP should decrease when the RPM's go up right?
5) It shows me in open loop the entire time
6) LTerm count is 138 and 135 near idle and lower when the RPM's are higher....this means what?
6) Sorry about all the questions but it's my first time.
My PCM was programmed by Ed Wright and has an LT4 KM...why am I getting zero knock?
BTW, I have the hotcam kit, LT's, no exhaust (currently), CAI, and nothing else significant oh yeah, and the runs were done with the car in neutral (let it idle a little then would rev it up a few times)

4)MAP is the manifold pressure, and changes as the rpm and throttle position changes.
5) did the car warm up? it stays in open loop until it warms up.
6) your lterms should be close to 128. higher is lean and lower is rich. i would want to be lower if i were you!

Try reading this... it will help explain the data you are looking at:
UNDERSTANDING SCANNER DATA
The question that really puzzles me is why you seemed so concerned about "getting zero knock". Why do you want "knock"? The last thing you want is to see knock, and have the PCM retard the timing. You aren't getting any knock, so there isn't any knock retard..... what's the problem? Most people would be very happy with no knock.
And to clarify, "revving the car in neutral"" is not the way to do a data log. It is just about useless. You want to drive the car "normally" until it is warmed up and in closed loop, then do a couple of WOT passes.

ok i did a run at WOT while actually on the road moving and the results are a little different (it's also in closed loop now). I was concerned about the knock b/c i know so many of our cars read false knock and w/ headers and the noisy roller rockers i figured i'd definately have at least some knock and not just .2? Anyways, thanxs for the replies.
