A4 trans limp mode

I was told I would get a service engine light if I get this, but at the track the trans shifted into 3 directly folowing the 1-2 shift. Then when I came to a stop and tried to start out again it acted like it was in 3rd gear constantly! I was told this was a limp mode type setting, and programming would solve it, can anyone give me any information about this? I did a search but I didn't come up with a lot of details. What causes it to go into lip mode? Can it go into limp mode without setting of a code, SES light? And whatever you might know about this that you feel might be helpful, I would appreciate it!

thanks,
John

Re: A4 trans limp mode

sounds to me you have the ole obd1 stall problem. what happens is the pcm registers a certain rpm and no speed. so it goes to 2nd and then shifts to 3rd way early. there is a programming fix for it. ive fixed serval. but if the fix doesnt work it will require a obd2 swap into your car. ive fixed serval and have never had trouble fixing it.

what cuases this is a stall higher than 2800. and you have a 3500.

If it just suddenly acting up like this, but was fine before, check the TPS. When I swapped my throttle body, the blades would open up past WOT, causing the TPS to go haywire and putting me in LHM

Thanks I knew it was something like that! I just got the newest $EE definition files from tunercat, because mine was 3+ years old and had less then half the tables this new one shows! Any how can you point me in a direction of a strating point? I could probably figure it out eventually but Like I said there are a lot more tables to look through now! Any help from anyone would be great too.

The trans is working great on the street and I know this thing shifts like a beast on the street! I know it is just the computer that is f'ing me up right now!
I ran a 13.9 with a 2.1 60' after it shifted from 1-2 then directly into limp mode (it held 2nd for < .5 second, then jumped into 3rd and never came out of 3rd) until I shut the car of then as soon as I restart it everything was fine again!

Re: A4 trans limp mode

email your current file and i will fix it, not trying to be a butt, but i told the person that me how to do it i would never tell anyone else. ive learned that theres a few more tables that have to do with the tranny shift problems. off the top of my head if i remember right its takes six diferent tables to fix it and also some in the constants tables as well.

just send me your file.
