95 3.4 jet chip question

i found a chip at a decent price...they have a stage 1 and stage 2, what would you recommend me getting, stage 1 for factory, stage 2 for modified..
sig for my "mods" lol

from jet:

What's the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 Power Tuning?
Stage 1 Tuning is designed for the stock engine with very little modification. It requires the use of 89 or higher octane fuel for best results. The Stage 1 tuning will work in conjunction with other modifications to increase performance (intake upgrades, exhaust upgrades, etc.)

Stage 2 Tuning is designed for the performance enthusiast. Premium fuel is required in order to extract the maximum benefit from the new tuning. Other modifications including, less restrictive exhaust, modified intake, and 180 degree thermostat are recommended prior to using the Stage 2.

Re: 95 3.4 jet chip question

I would just recomment staying away from the Jet Chips. No bang for the buck. Do some more research or computer tune upgrades if you still want to spend money on that side of things, otherwish, you'll barely notice a difference, if any, and you'll be disappointed.

Re: 95 3.4 jet chip question

i have been doing some work with a local dyno shop and several vehicles have come in that have had engines rebuilt with mild cams in them and after the rebuild they were not running very good so the customers have tried hypertech chips and jet chip.

i introduced myself to the dynoshop and showed them what i could do with my laptop and prom burner and tunercat software, we have done several vehicles and the ones that came in with the hypertech and jet proms in them i did a read on these proms, the jet chip was just a totally stock bin file and the hypertech file only had 7 degrees more timing added at wide open throttle, both of these were supposed to be custom tunes for the vehicles

the hypertech prom was for a 88 camaro and the jetchip was from a 88 chevy with a 454 TBI,

we spent several hours burning proms for these vehicles and when we were done they ran 10 times better than the aftermarket proms did

i also worked on a 94 full size blazer that originally had a 305 TBI, the guy built a 350 with vortec heads and a cam, the couldnt get it to run on the factory chip so he called hypertech and they sent him a prom, the engine ran but was very rich he was only getting 8-9 mpg,

he also called hypertech several times trying to get a chip that would make is vehicle run better and they told him this was the best his engine would ever run because it was a built motor with a big cam

i spent several hours programming a prom on the dyno for this vehicle and when we were done it idled like stock and his milage went up to 11.8mpg
i did a read on his hypertech chip and the only things changed on it from a stock chip was the idle and wide open timing and the trans shift tables were modified so the trans shifted firmer
