93 PCM basic info ?
93 PCM basic info ?
I have a friend that just bought a '93 LT1 Camaro and was wondering if I could tune a '93... I have never even looked at a '93 PCM, but tuning is similar if I have the right equip..
Anyway, my question is, on '93 is the PCM flashable like 94-95s or is it a chip that must be physically removed and placed in a burner?
If flashable, is the same ALDL connector as the '94 used?
Thanks

As Shoebox pointed out, its an ECM because it only controls the Engine, not the Powertrain.
The ALDL connector is a 12-pin OBD-I connector, same as a 94.
The engine control strategy is virtually identical to the 94 and later PCM's, except for the fact it runs in speed-density, rather than mass-air, and uses batch-fired injectors, not sequential. It is also unique in the it is the last year you can flash the DTC codes on the SES light, by shorting the correct ALDL pins.
And its got a removable "chip", as Shoebox pointed out.

Thx, sounds like its basically the same as the TPI chip burning I used to do.
Do either of you know if the ALDL connector is the same as for a '90-'92 TPI motor for scanning?
