I removed the smog pump on my 96 z and now my ABS light stays on. Any Help would be Great.

You might have knocked around a ground or something in the harness. You need to scan the ABS with a TECH2 or comparable scanner and it will tell you what circuit has the problem.

 

Where do i find one of these tools?

 

One other thing, The traction control light stays on too. The switch no longer controls it????????

 

This is what the dealer uses for diagnostics. I just tried to have mine hooked up to one here in Columbus and they said they are not allowed and will not touch it due to the fact that the car is modified. If you know someone well at a dealer, they probably will do it. The tool cost about $2500 (according to a GM technician).

I would check the grounds and plugs going to the ABS unit before taking it to the dealer---don't forget to check ALL fuses and the battery cables.

 

$2500 for a used one. Try closer to $4000 for a new one. You need to get in good with a GM technician. This is the one of only a couple tools that will read the ABS module.

I know a guy who can help me. I don't think it's a wire, I can plug my Smog stuff back up and the lights go away. The question I have is will the lights being on affect performance? I'm also going to remove my Cat's this weekend and buy some o2 sim's.

ABS and Traction lights are out now but I have a new problem. I took the battery cable off and these lights went out and now the only light that is on is the service light?????????????????? OBDII?????? What's it cost to have this pc flashed?

 

do you mean to have the pc programmed or do you mean have it scanned for the code?
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but if you just want the code read, I believe Autozone can do that for free.

 

If you removed the smog pump then you will get an SES light. That is the price you pay unless you get ahold of an OBD1 computer OR get a new tune from one of the venders on this board.

 

Turbo..........Will these lights affect my performance?

 

The AIR code will not affect performance. The AIR system is only there to help the cats heat up on startup, then it shuts off 2 or 3 minutes after startup. What will be a problem with a constant SES light is not knowing if there are NEW problems that would cause the light to come on and could affect performance.

 

I had the car tested today. Does anyone have a list for all these codes? I have po412, po122a, p1642a, p1641a. I'm not so worried about the lights and codes but now I have a new problem. I drained the radiator today and put new coolant in and now my Fans don't work. HELP........ANYONE.....PLEASE.
