if you throw a set of vortech style heads on that motor, make sure you have a vortech style intake manifold as the bolt pattern on them is diffrent.

also the vortech heads are arguable the best flowing set of stock gm cast heads ever made...now please keep in mind i say this is arguable, the stage II heads are imo the best of the best. more air=more power, just make sure thoes heads arent cracked cause i know they arent brand new

if you want to put them on your LT1, they will not work.

LT1 is a reverse flow motor, takes a lot of work to make a gen 1 sbc head to work on a gen II.

FWIW, the vortec head was styled after the cast iron B-body LT1 heads anyways.

if its going on a Gen I SB, 55-2000 (not including LT1) then you would need a vortec specifit intake, SA rockers, center bolt valve covers.

I have 4 sets now as they are dirt cheap . I have only one set of the 062 casting that in my opinion is the best ones to get. They have a very efficient combustion chamber and runner design .And as stated above , They will not work on your LT1. Gm got the design form the LT1 head . So even if it would work on your motor you wouldn't gain anything.

EVERYONE????? Did you ask on the LT1 Based Engine Tech forum? I don't think you will get too many people telling you to put iron Vortec heads in place of your aluminum LT1 heads? As noted above, the Vortec was a copy of an LT1 head, for the conventionally cooled Gen 1 SBC engines. Great head, but still cast iron, heavy, and not as tolerant of the high compression ratio used on the F-Body LT1's.

You could buy a set of iron LT1 heads from a B-Body, and have the great flow numbers, without the problems of the mismatch on the cooling ports. Or, you could have any decent head porter port your LT1 aluminum heads to outflow not only the iron LT1 heads, but the even better flowing LT4 aluminum heads.
