What causes fuel pump to leak oil?
I have a 454ci in my 69 Camaro. After driving it for a couple of days I will look at the mechanical fuel pump and it will have oil on it. I will wipe it down and drive the car some more and the oil will be back again. What is causing this? Any help would be appreciated.

Cory, in my experience with rat motors, the leak could stem from the gasket that seals the fuel pump to the engine block. Also look at the valve cover gasket in the area immediately above the fuel pump. I am assuming you are using a mechanical fuel pump mounted on the lower right side of the engine block. You may want to check the length and condition of the bolts that hold the pump to the block, if they are too long, they won't seal the pump to the block properly.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think there is a bolt on the front of the block that is used to hold the push rod back while installing the pump, you may want to check that too. Hope this helps....

I agree, There's not much else it could be. Depending on exactly where you see the oil. But a new gasket is only around $2 probably. I'd guess that you will simply need to pull the pump off, replace the gasket and reinstall the pump. Good luck with it!!
I ran into this on my small block... i wasn't the gasket... there is a little rubber plug in the pump. It is plugging a hole from the inside of the casing. I've heard it's there to let off excess air pressure from within the pump if too much gets sealed in the pump at any given time... my nipple fell out, and oil went everywhere... took a long time to figure it out too.
I had to replace the pump in the end.

I believe that the oil is coming from within the fuel pump. I will be able to check it out in another week or so once I get back home from business. At first I thought the fuel pump wasn't sealed tightly so I tightened the small allen-head bolts around the pump and they were kind of loose but it still didnt' fix the problem. I will have to really check into it after next week. Thanks for the tips though. I should find the problem now.
