Thermostat vs. NO-Thermostat

Hi All -

Looking for advice - I have a new 427 BB Chevy just installed in my 67 Coupe. I have 540 hp and the question is should I run it with a thermostat or no thermostat? I have a dual fan Be-cool radiator currently. Any benefits of no thermostat?
Trying to keep her as cool as possible! Hopefully preventing vapor lock.

Thx!

Re: Thermostat vs. NO-Thermostat

The engine runs best when it’s up to temp. It’s the thermostat’s job to make sure the cooling system doesn’t make the engine run too cold. You can change out the thermostat for one that begins to open at a lower temperature (160° is a popular choice for performance applications), but don‘t remove it altogether.
