How do I decide on what stall to go with on my 327?

Camshaft size and RPM range, as well as if its a street car or race car.

Stall speed depends on the camshaft advertised duration and if it's race only or street/strip.

RPM range and gear ratio also depend on the camshaft, not the converter stall. The camshaft will dictate what everything else should be.

OK, thanks. I'm going to get an Edelbrock top end kit through Summitt, so Im assuming they will be able to give me the best matching stall. And I think im going with 373 gears.

They should be able to.

Best to call TCI after you have your top end kit and tell them you need a convertor, they will ask you a bunch of questions about the setup/usage and they will be more helpfull than whoever is selling you the top end kit most likely.

Good luck!

there are lots of good converter companies. they will get you real close. for steet/strip a good 10" will be nice. I'd recommend giving Kenny a call at PTC down in Mussel Shoals AL. he'll get all your info. you can't go wrong with an ATI or Coan either but i stayed away from Coan after their rep told me a big line of total crap about only one company making a forward pattern TH-x shifter b/c forward patterns weren't any good by design (Coan rep claimed). PTC will also build you one from a used core for much cheaper but same quality.
