A decent gear and about 525-550 engine hp will get you there.

Nice job on the car by the way.

Re: quick Q : power for 10's lol

lets say that my car makes 400hp (highly doubt it) but with a 200shot, u think ill make it into the 10's. I just want one time slip in the tens the rest can be in the 15's for all i care lol

Re: quick Q : power for 10's lol

Not to bust your bubble but I don't think 525 will do it..

Just as an example....my velle is alot heavier than your car but I am putting 400 to the ground and running low 12s. I plan on spraying her into the 10s like you !! I honestly feel I will need 200 more HP to get that 10 second timeslip....

You should do a search on the web for a HP calculator or performance calculator....they estimate what a car will run in the 1/4 by using the HP and weight of the vehicle as the factors.

Just get your car running the best you can without the spray....then install a good nitrous kit and work your way up from 100 then 150 etc etc... You need to take certain precautions (timing, fuel, etc) when doing this so do your homework and good luck.

We have a 3100# '70 Camaro that runs 10.83 @ 125 MPH N/A. It made 405 HP at the rear wheels, through a 9.5" converter, TH350, and a 4.88 12 bolt.

For more info, click on the first link in my sig, and then click on the 0range '70 for complete details

Re: quick Q : power for 10's lol

It's not all about brute HP, it's about having a combination front to back that all work in sync...think about stockers and how well they run, they've been able to optimize everything to extract the best performance with "stock" parts.

You could have 2 cars with 500hp, and if ones just a 500hp motor thrown into an otherwise stock chasis and the other set-up to match engine's powerband it's obvious who will win...so it's not just about brute power, but it does take power in the big picture to go fast.

Best thing you can do to help-lose weight in the car, it's FREE horsepower The lighter you are the easier it is to get that slip, I've seen guys pull off bumpers, take out interiors, try running on fumes to "get that slip" LOL!! I always thought if I could'nt make it run what I want in street trim, what's the point since it's highly unlikely your gonna gut everything if your ever tested

If you wanna cheap way to go fast, stick all your money into the heads, cam, valve train, and convertor....just make sure compression compliments cam duration, convertor compliments engines powerband, and gearing/tire height out back work with everything in front of them and you'll go fast cheaply. My shortblock was completely stock other than hyperutec slugs and complete motor was only a $3500 investment and served me well for 2 sesasons and thousands of street miles before end of crank broke off.

Re: quick Q : power for 10's lol

i realize that it is not all bout pure hp. I really wanted to know what amount of hp will i need to make my car with the set up it has now into the tens. This is why i left the link to my crappy car domain site. even if i blow the motor, as long as i "get that slip" (lol).

.....i am one crazy bastard, my car has yet to see the street and i want 10's already lol. MArch 29- Bday=lisence

i really just wanna beat my friends 11.8 cobra (street tires made the 11.8)

Re: quick Q : power for 10's lol

It is less of a power issue than a traction and gearing issue......
the 10 bolt would be suspect also.....
I would say very well set up for racing..... 400 hp
street car with slicks...... 525+ give or take a little bit.
10's is really fast when you are a fairly new driver too.....
not trying to knock ya, but it is a whole lot of car.... that runs 10's

Put a 300 shot on your car and spray it out of the hole, and you will probably be able to click off a low 11- high 10 if you can put the power down...
