Push Rods
A little history:
I resently rebuilt my 327 with an improved Cam, lifters, push rods, heads, etc. A couple of weeks ago I noticed that the roller rockers were chatering. So, Friday before the dream cruise I pulled my valve covers to adjust the rockers. I found almost all of my push rods had some damage (the tops were being smashed).
My question is, has anyone else seen this and how do I keep it from happening again? I got the car back together and had it out at the the cruise, no problems yet...
Thanks for the help and any advise you can give,
Rick

Did you replace the pushrods? I wouldn't had drove it with worn pushrods. Anyhow, I am not real technically advance on all those measurements, but a good thing would be to check and see if any other valve train part has been damaged...hope someone else has an answer for you......

Did the rocker arm posi-locks back off, allow the pushrod to start jumping around in it's pocket and cause the damage or was it caused by something else?
Posi locks backing off is easy to fix, any other cause might be more difficult to solve.

No, they were all tight when I pulled the rockers off. I've never heard of the push rod ends flattening out like that.
It was almost like there wasn't enough steel in the end and only the rocker side. Maybe the Edelbrock valve springs were too stiff for the rods. I would have expected them to bend first not mushroom the end.

Sound like when they rebuilt your motor they probably milled the heads. This is a very common way to get a little more compression out of the motor.
Your pushrods are simply a little too long.
I suggest contracting Crower ( www.crower.com ) and ordering a set of shorter pushrods
