Some A**hole stole my Demon carb today. Took it right off my car, i broke down on 820 near mansfield highway. My driveshaft came loose from the u joints. So i go home to get a truck to haul it. Come back and there it is an open space . I didnt have a hood on, i was enjoying driving with out one. I obviously wasnt anticipating on breaking down. I can say i learned a lesson though.
Man that's horrible. Sorry to hear people do that kind of thing. Its one thing to take a common car, but quite another to not just steal but rip performance parts off a classic. Its just wrong. There are some unwritten rules you are suppose to follow. Messing with topless, doorless Jeeps is one of them, and doing more than looking at a classic is another.
So how long do you expect downtime? Gonna get a locking hood now?

As a matter of fact, i still have my old pins for the hood in the packages. I will get the ones that lock. As for the carb im buying a new one tommorow, man i hate that i have to buy another one. I agree with what you said, i will never be in another situation like that again. If i am i will be prepared. I hope this might make some peaple here more aware of peaple who steel performance parts that easily.
Well, having an older Chevy too, I mean, they are built so simple that practically anyone with a 1/2" socket and ratchet could pull the carb. their first time in under 10 minutes.
This isn't something you'd try to pull off and yank the throttle body off an LS1 car.
Unless your hood was locked, I get the feeling even if you had the hood, this person would have tried to yank it anyway. Doubt it, but keep your ear to the ground. If you happen to see someone running a stock Chevy 305 with an out of place polished 850 carb that is about tripple the flow they need....hmmm....

"It all comes out in the wash" He'll get his whether caught or not. I've always believed in being repaid times seven, whether it be positive or negative.
Good move on calling the performance shops - I would not have even thought of that. Not too many engines can saddle that much carb, so selling it would be a strong point.
